If you’re a queer person living in Portland, OR you know that summertime is the best time to eat delicious fresh food, flirt with cute babes, and leap outside of your comfort zone! We’ve got 2-3 months a year that aren’t grey and dreary, and hot damn, we make the most of those special sparkly summer vibes.
What better way to celebrate Portland summer than with an intimate dinner featuring a multi-course meal with a specialty cocktail? On July 25, Lepage Food & Drinks is hosting a Queer Family Meal, and you should totally go! You will dine on the freshest summery ingredients prepared specially for you – think fine-dining in the comfort of one’s own backyard. The menu will feature rustic, Mediterranean-inspired fare, and a portion of all ticket sales will be donated to SMYRC, a resource center and safe space for LGBTQ youth in Portland.
The event is the brain child of Risa Lichtman, who has been cooking in restaurants throughout Portland, San Francisco, and New York for the past decade. Risa is passionate about ingredient-driven food and working with local farmers and makers. She runs Lepage Food & Drinks, hosting pop-ups focused on community-building, creating a positive food culture, and inspiring sustainable food practices by dining together with intention.
As if all of the above is not enough to make me and all of us fall in love with Risa, she also describes herself as “obsessed with her little family comprised of her old man dog, Isaac, and baby kitten, Sylvia Pickle, who also happen to be best friends”(!!!). She says she is stoked to be bringing together food and queerness, her two favorite things on this planet (besides her animals).
So okay, let’s go over the details of this cute event!
