Remember the first time you read Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit? Me too. Talk about one of those books that every queer needs on their shelf. How about Written on the Body? Raise your hand if you shared a copy with a few bedmates. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Jeanette Winterson is one of those authors that feels integral to lesbian literature and queer experience, and the fact that she is the new featured author in the Hysterical Literature series got me way too pumped.
The series of black and white videos is the brainchild of artist Clayton Cubitt, who films women reading their favorite works of literature at a table. While we can’t see what’s going on beneath the table, their physical reactions reveal that there is definitely a vibrator involved.
