It can be tough out there for queers planning a wedding, especially those who haven’t attended m/any. Personally, when it comes to weddings I have no damn clue about so many things. I’m still not entirely clear on what a rehearsal dinner is and what gets rehearsed there and whether it’s a must-have, and that’s just off the top of my head. What I do know, however, is that some condescending dickhead in a super fancy, supposedly bespoke suit shop looked me up and down in slow-mo and opined that men’s suits don’t fit women’s bodies. I mean, fuck that guy. But as someone who’s neither used to wearing dresses nor suits and who has insecure feelings about exploring my menswear potential, that experience just made me shy further away from the idea of wearing traditional men’s wedding attire.
So that’s why I’ve fallen hopeless in love with H&H Weddings, a website that “is dedicated to providing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender couples with high-end resources to plan and create a one-of-a-kind event.”
The site, founded by its New York based editor Kate Schaefer, documents the cutest damn weddings of LGBT couples that you’ll ever see and links you directly to the vendors that can help make lovely things happen. It’s super encouraging and affirming and inspiring in ways that I’ve not experienced when reading non-LGBT leaning wedding websites. A couple of clicks in and you start feeling more confident in the fact that actually it’s totally fine to wear a suit and hold a bouquet or walk down the aisle together or wear mismatched attire etc, because pages and pages of cute smiling stylish queers have proved it.
You can get more H&H Weddings in your life via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
In one of those moments where Autostraddle somehow nails my personal life, I’ve been reading http://offbeatbride.com/ because if you scroll alllllllll the way to the bottom you can filter the posts to see only “lesbian” weddings.
Now I have a new site woot!
(not getting married, I just love weddings)
Oh I’ve never noticed the tags down the bottom, good to know!
crystal this is so great and i bet your wedding will be SO GREAT

There goes my workday right down the rabbit hole…

Logged in solely to say THAT GUY IS THE WORST. Ok now back to reading the actual article
THE WORST
(1) Congrats!
(2) I love this. Looking at so many happy people makes me feel happy too.
I’ve been drooling over that art deco shoot–I used one of the pictures as the header for our OC straddler new years party and I’ve had the photo page open since! Definitely magical inspiration. Now I’m looking through the Gothic Mystique shoot with heart eyes, basically. The fruit and the flowers! the colors! The models! HELP.
I so love love love this! GOD I need to do a queer wedding shoot so badly.
Congratulations Crystal!!
Oh crystal… You’re the best. <3
I accompanied my best friend to a bridal shop to pick out her wedding dress last week and it made me sad that I had no idea what kind of wedding outfits my girlfriend and I could wear (if she would ever want to get married). I googled lesbian weddings but couldn’t really find stylish options for what to wear. So thank you for this!
Crystal, you’re the cutest! My person says you should try jack London.
