Hello squirrel friends! Back to the old format this week, all your favorite shows in one place! SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: we will be posting a special Autostraddle Fall TV Preview post on Friday, so be sure to check back for our stunning advice on what to watch.
First, a moment of silence, as Reading Rainbow aired its last episode. I used to loooooove Reading Rainbow, I totally wanted to be one of the kids who held up their favorite book and told you all about it. It will be missed.
Ok, moving on. I’m not even going to get into The Real L Word situation, you all obvs already know everything about it, just be sure to enter our super awesome comment contest!
News time! This isn’t really TV related but it’s extremely newsworthy: Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion. As a total superhero junkie (and major comic book collector in middle school) I have to say that I am appalled. In casting news, Fred Armisen will be reuniting with Amy Poehler on Parks and Recreation for a few episodes this fall, and the charming Deschanel sisters might be teaming up this season on Bones. Want to know when your favorite shows will be back? Check out this handy Fall ’09 grid. Oh, and you can check out the track listing for the first Glee soundtrack (it’ll be out on November 3rd)! And this just in: AMC renews Mad Men for a fourth season!
Hello there squirrel friends, how are we today? I’m recovering from a mild sunburn and what appears to be allergies affecting only my right eye, that’s how I am. The internet is not ready for what is to come, but I know that you are, dear readers: this week we are splitting the Televisionary in two because it is literally bursting with awesome!
One post could not contain the intensity and awesomesauce that you’re about to experience. So this post will cover the “scripted” shows, and tomorrow you’ll see a post covering “reality” shows (which are sometimes scripted as well but usually inclued far less vampires unless you count Nigel Lythgoe. JK!).
In recent tv news, MTV is working on their own version of BBC’s Skins, Auto-Fave Jayma Mays is making a brief return to Heroes amidst the Glee madness, and Drop Dead Diva was renewed for a second season! And typography design nerds and fangirls alike can rejoice: the Dollhouse season 2 artwork has arrived! Since I am in the intersection between both of these factions (right in the vaguely inappropriate center of that Venn diagram) this made me v. happy.
Hey squirrel friends! This week’s Tuesday Televisionary is chock full of awesome, so let’s get right into it, shall we? But first, news!
Hey, didja hear: McSteamy has a sex tape! Grey’s Anatomy‘s Dr. McSteamy (Eric Dane) and his wife Rebecca Gayheart are in a sex tape with some former beauty queen. LOLOMGWTFBBQ.
And speaking of Grey’s, watch an awesome interview with Jessica Capshaw (one half of CALIZONA!) at E! Online. Also go watch this new Glee clip (thanks, Nicole!), a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their cover of Kanye’s “Gold Digger.” Just a few more weeks and we can watch Glee every week! And then you might as well watch this new Gossip Girl promo too. Also you can [sneakily] watch the 13th unaired Dollhouse episode, “Epitaph One,” here, in HD! Ok I’m done.
Hello squirrel friends! After a month-long sabbatical, I’m finally back! How exciting for you! And for me! But mostly for you! I’d like to thank the entire Autostraddle team and intern army for filling in and covering the Tuesday Televisionary marvelously in my absence. In fact, they did such a good job, I’m keeping them!
From now on, the Tuesday Televisionary will feature contributions from the whole gang, as well as the return of The Carlytron Television Awards! But first, some news.
The Television Critics Association summer 2009 press tour just ended, and there were tonnnnzzz of things that happened, far too many to talk about, so you can read a best/worst wrap-up here and see what Michael Ausiello at EW had to say about, well, everything!
Um, what else? True Blood got renewed for a third season, that’s really important because I finally got caught up on this show and it has totally blown my mind. You know what? Eff the news, we have so much to recap here! SO! MUCH!
Hey-o! It’s me Riese. Welcome back to the weekly television round-up, once again produced by teamwork rather than individual dreamwork. But we hope to be back to your “regularly scheduled programming” next week. Haha! Get it? That was like a play on television words! But I’m no televisionary, folks, in fact, quite the opposite. I watch a show, and it gets prematurely canceled every time: My So-Called Life, that sitcom about Dinosaurs, The Critic, Thea, Me and the Boys, South Central, American High … I could go on. Instead, let’s look at some shows that actually ARE still on. This week’s roundup was put together by the lovely Intern Jess! and includes My Life on the D-List, Intervention (by Tinkerbell), Nurse Jackie, The Colony, Drop Dead Diva, Deadly Waters, True Blood, So You Think You Can Dance and Weeds!
Hi! Welcome to your Weekly Tuesday Televisionary, which we’re dishing up “team style” this week. We ambitiously cover very many shows that were on the teevee during the past week including My Life on the D-List, Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Intervention, 10 Things I Hate About You, True Blood, Better off Ted, and Drop Dead Diva and we bring you two hot girls of the week since last week we forgot.

First of all, the little preview thingie before the episode introduced me to a new HBO series, Bored to Death, with Jason Schwartzman. So I looked it up and you can watch the trailer! Exciting, y/n? I have one word for you: KristinWiigAndParkerEffingPoseyOMG.
I hate to call Best Episode of the Season without having seen the entire season , but this week’s True Blood was ahh-maze-zing! Strong contender for Best Episode of the Season, amirite?! Allan Ball brought out the 1926 flashback and I nearly fell out of my chair. Hello! Vampire sex on the bloody deathbed of a flapper wannabe who is still gushing from her neck?! This is why I watch this show, Allan! Thank you!
“Fuck prohibition!
[laughter]
If you’d like, after your other guests leave, Guillaume and I could stay and we could all fuck … prohibition somewhat further.” [Lorena entices the unwitting couple]
After Mama turns off Hoyt’s phone, he’s forced to tell her the truth about Jessica. Oh that’s right, ladies. Jessica’s not a money-hungry slut, she’s a vampire!
Wrong! It’s not your regularly-scheduled Tuesday Televisionary who says things like ‘squirrel friends.’ It’s Autostraddle’s Senior Designer Extraordinaire, Alex! Hi, nice to meet you all. This week, because Carlytron is running from the law in Tijiuana, I’ve hijacked the Tuesday Televisionary — much like Robin did last week (except I don’t have a cool picture to prove it).
The truth is, I only watch The History Channel and The Food Network so I can’t actually write about teevee unless you want to hear about the lost pyramid of Egypt. So I’ve called upon the Team and Intern Army to contribute in order to make this a Tuesday Televisionary of Epic Proportions. So this was truly a collaborative effort — I really don’t know how the ‘Tron does this all on her own every week! She must really like teevee or something.
Anyway! Drum roll please!
Girl-in-Greece: The Incredibly True Adventures of a History Nerd in Love with Mount Olympus: decided I wanted to visit Greece three years ago — right before all those dumb movies set in Greece flooded the marketplace and inspired my friends & family to assume I’d picked my destination because of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
Also, we have created a special girl-on-gallery of photographs for our ex-web host, bluehost, and their Mormon buddies: Hot Girls Leave a Little Something up to the Imagination.
ON THE UPSIDE HE PROBS WON’T STEAL YOUR SON’S FLEECE: “My son “Bob” is leaving for his freshman year of college in August. Bob just received his roommate assignment and discovered that his roomie is gay … Bob would prefer a straight roommate. When I called the university to ask if Bob could be assigned another roomie, the housing director said no …” (@dear amy, la times)
