Hey, hi, hello it is me, Alaina!! Happy Sunday! Wow, how the heck are you doing? Is it snowing where you live?? That’s so weird! It’s forecast to be a perfect 70º in Austin, TX today, so I’ll send you some warmth if you’re in the wild north braving snowstorms. Anyway, we’ve established that it is Sunday, and boi howdy, do I have some fun to share with you today! I hope you dig it.

Okay, friends, that’s all I got. I hope your week is going to be so groovy and full of babes if you want and dancing and lots of friendship and love! ??
HA! Just kidding! Who do you think I am?
Drake came out with a video for his newest song “Nice for What” and my goddess, it’s full of beautiful women. The video is directed by 22-year-old Karena Evans, who also directed the video for “God’s Plan.” I want to know everything about her. Queer girls and nonbinary babes all over the internet had a lot to say about it.
Lesbian culture is watching the Nice for What video three times and not knowing what the song is about

sorry im a liitle obsessed, but I really feel like drake was like “i think they do, but how do I make 100% sure all the queer girls/adjacent like me?” and then made the “nice for what” video

I for one, am emotional and will never get over this. Happy Sunday to us all, especially our one true ally Aubrey Drake Graham.
I just watched the video with the sound off because Ina Garten was talking about chocolate in the background. I practically had an orgasm. So, now I have a new hobby.
This is sensational
Well, if we’re gonna talk about music and queer people, I just came across this article on the BBC today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-43656866
It’s more from a British music perspective, than an international one, but I thought it was a good read anyway.
if we accept drake as our lord and savior do we go to “nice for what” heaven?
hope so!!!!
Thank you Alaina!
1) Wow Octavia’s notes. I visualize what I read, and visualizing oankali was/is really exhausting on my brain and I got stuck and haven’t finished Lilith’s Brood yet. Maybe this will make it easier. Digital alchemy. Thank you for sharing this.
2) I hope for many more major record label music videos that are just tastefully spliced clips of powerful women & queer ppl beautifully owning their space.
Gorgeous women, gorgeous video — but can we all agree that the “song” is just a DJ at a club on a Friday night putting “Ex-Factor” on loop over lesser-than beats and random Drake interludes?
i do NOT disagree!
That drake video has it all, including Tracee Ellis Ross and Rashida Jones.
I honestly almost screamed from delight at seeing Syd in Drake’s video. She looks so cute and happy. If you’re not familiar with her music, give her album “Fin” a listen… it’s incredibly sexy and moody and the vibe is just killer.
Omg yes the nice for what video is beautiful! But also, why are artists sampling Big Freedia in their bounce-influenced songs but they don’t put her in the video? http://www.thefader.com/2018/04/09/big-freedia-drake-nice-for-what-interview
