Hello, my friends! Thank you for joining me for another Pop Culture Fix — and an extra special thank you to Valerie Anne for covering for me last week! It looks like there were two kinds of pop culture bloodbaths while I was gone. The bad kind: so many gay shows got cancelled! And the good kind: We finally got our first look at Netflix’s new lesbian vampire show, First Kill! Good thing it was Valerie who was here to report on that; she handles blood a LOT better than me.
+ Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird scrapped it out this weekend.

+ Your favorite lesbian aunt came out to cheer on her wifey in the Storm home opener last week.
You know @mPinoe had to be here for our homecoming! 😎#TakeCover pic.twitter.com/rwVl7EGbWH

+ How these queer WNBA couples came to be. (Adorable alert!)
+ Stephanie Beatriz has joined Peacock’s live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal.
+ The official trailer for First Kill is here, which Carmen reported in last week’s Also.Also.Also — but I thought you’d like to see it again/wouldn’t want to miss it!
+ The Indigo Girls were on Debbie Millman’s Design Matters podcast last week. It’s one of the best interviews I’ve ever heard with them (and they’re from my college town; I’ve heard a LOT of interviews with them).
+ How Welcome to Flatch’s queer star Holmes fights sadness with humor.
+ Thirty years later, Star Trek Deep Space Nine’s queer coding has aged remarkably well.
+ Fox has cancelled Our Kind of People after one season.
+ The CW has now pulled the plug on Legacies. And also 4400. And Roswell, New Mexico. And Naomi and Charmed.
+ Speaking of all these cancellations, Natalie recently shared this really incisive — and depressing — look at what’s going on (and invites us, once again, to blame Netflix).
+ Niecy Nash’s spin-off of The Rookie has been picked up! One bright bit of TV news in this current cancellation hellscape!
+ Of course, Nic is also very correct here.
So that's…All American, All American: Homecoming, The Flash, Kung Fu, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, S&L, Walker, Walker: Independence, The Winchesters, Gotham Knights.
By my count that’s 8 male-fronted shows…with All American(s) and Kung Fu as diversity plays? Okay, CW. We see you.

+ ABC has renewed A Million Little Things.
+ Fox has also renewed Welcome to Flatch and 9-1-1: Lonestar.
+ Wonder Woman 3: The DCEU can’t ignore Diana’s bisexuality any longer. (I also hope they don’t ignore her as an actual character like they did in Wonder Woman 2.)
+ Heartstopper and the importance of queer joy.
+ Queer Country explores the origins of the growing genre of music.
the pure serotonin that Sue and DT’s bickering gave me!! I’ve been showing the clip to everyone I know (pretty much nobody cares)
They’re like a couple of kids on a playground! It’s my ball! NO IT’S MY BALL!
That is one of Rapinoe’s lesbian auntiest looks 😂. Loved the article on the teammate couples.
Rapinoe , I am so tired of her, see was not the MVP of the last Olympics. See scored on two given PK’s and a set piece that was dumbied by two players and went in the net
Hahaha didn’t realize the CW had kept that Walker Texas Ranger reboot. How interesting. Super depressing to watch them clean house of all the queer shows that they don’t think will play well on HBO Max or Paramount or whatever.
