Sorry Christina but WHAT??!! Handsome podcast is literally the only podcast I need. The three of them together really crack me up and sometimes it is so refreshing and rejuvinsting to hear queer women and nonbinary folx enjoying each other’s company and genearally having a great time. Please help me understand why you are dissing three amazing, hilarious, handsome queers on Autostraddle? We should be celebrating Tig Notaro, Mae Martin and Fortune Feimster and promoting their collective awesomeness!
There are so many podcasts. I see a famous person, even one I care about, announce a new podcast and I instantly feel fatigued. I am very much with Christina on this one. I wasn’t aware of this podcast until this article so it’s not like AS isn’t doing promo work for it! But I do feel relieved when other people agree that there are too many podcasts.
There are three amazing, hilarious, handsome queers and then there’s Neil Patrick Harris, who is… none of those things.
Obviously podcasts are overdone, kinda goes without saying. By all means hate on the straight podcasts all you want, but to hate on the creative work of our queer sisters/siblings feels a lot like internalized homophobia. And really, is the sponcom other queers are promoting on social media that much more valuable?
To call it internalized homophobia seems a bit overdoing it??
You know we are not a monolith and are allowed to not/want/like certain things EVEN if the people making the content are queer? Let people like or dislike what they want and keep it pushing.
Mens: I totally agree we are not a monolith! Some of us like comedy podcasts, some of us like looking at photos women in their bras and swimsuits, some of us care deeply when Shane (sorry Kate) goes to a hardware store or when Renee Rapp eats ketchup potato chips. Some people may even care about paper clips in a bowl on a counter. No need to minimize the experience of any of those people, even the paper clip people.
Agree that this pod is my new favourite. Tig, Fortune and Mae are hilarious together and the show is extremely queer. Could I do without NPH? Of course. But the weekly question-asker is in the ep for a handful of minutes (a prerecorded question and then brief answer). The question is just a jumping off point to start a convo between the three hosts. If any of you are podcast listeners who enjoy comedy I can’t recommend it enough.
