Do you feel guilty when you start rereading a book you’ve read a hundred times when you have so many unread books on your nightstand? That’s weird, right? It’s all reading and it’s all better than doom-scrolling Twitter! Anyway I just started Priory of the Orange Tree for the one billionth time during my lunch break and cannot wait for the day I announce in Pop Culture Fix that it’s being adapted for TV.
+ The teaser for Queen Latifah’s Equalizer is finally here and she kicks just as much ass as I hoped she would! It premieres on CBS after the Super Bowl.
I’m excited to share that #TheEqualizer is less than a month away. Are you ready? 🖤 @TheEqualizerCBS February 7 pic.twitter.com/vhaPaLBtGv

+ Hunter Harris’ February cover shoot profile of Zendaya in GQ is so great.
+ Hey speaking of killer profiles: Javicia Leslie left government for Hollywood — now she’s the first Black Batwoman, by Tracy Brown for the Los Angeles Times.
+ But wait there’s more! Mallika Rao profiles Lilly Singh’ for The New York Times.
Yep, that’s three major publication profiles of women of color written by women of color!
+ Mamma Mia director Phyllida Lloyd spills on the treacherous Hollywood path for queer directors.
+ Brandi Carlile on queer parenting.
+ Dickinson’s Hailee Steinfeld on season 2, queer love and working with Marvel’s Finn Jones.
+ For the return of Captain Jack Harkness to Doctor Who: Torchwood is essential queer television masquerading as science fiction.
+ Peacock is dropping all ten episodes of its Punky Brewster reboot in February. (I can’t be the only one who sees Soleil Moon Frye and thinks of her character that couldn’t stop punching Joey on Friends every single time.)
+ How WandaVision reassembles the MCU with a crash course through sitcom history.
+ Lucy Lawless goes full Xena on Kevin Sorbo for spreading conspiracy theories.
I’m getting extremely hyped for Batwoman to come back!
– I am a fan of the Equalizer films and of Queen Latifah, so I’ll give this a chance, teaser/trailer didn’t give me enough to go off of yet.
– Anxious to finally see Javica Leslie as Batwoman, all these advertisement was nice to see, but it has also made the wait seem like forever.
– Excited for Wandavision, though not expecting any gay stuff in it.
– Also, for anyone interested in the “Riverdale-esque” live-action reboot of Winx Club, while they have cast a black woman as Aisha/Layla, they also whitewashed both Musa and Flora.
Priory of the Orange Tree would be a great tv series! It has dragons! magic fruit! queer people!
Has there been any talk of this happening?
I DIDN’T KNOW THE EQUALIZER WAS A THING BUT I LOVE QUEEN LATIFAH AND MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED WATCHING THIS TRAILER
After seeing her in Chicago, this role seems reasonable. Plus she’s in the best shape of her career.
