Pop Culture Fix: Tessa Thompson and Brie Larson Broke The Lesbian Internet With Their Red Carpet Canoodling

Welcome to your weekly Pop Culture Fix, the one-stop shop for all your #Valkarol news.

+ Avengers: Endgame is finally almost here. The premiere was Monday night and one thing that happened on the red carpet was that Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson broke the lesbian internet with some canoodling. Also Tessa casually chatted about a Captain Marvel-Thor-Valkyrie thruple with Variety.

+ You know who else Tessa casually chatted with? Oh, that’s right: our own Carmen Phillips! Carmen interviewed Tessa about her new film, Nia DaCosta’s Little Woods, over at Remezcla. They talked about the lack of Afro-Latina representation Hollywood, Tessa’s Panamanian grandmother, and oh so much more! It’s a must-read!

+ Here’s another brilliant interview with Rafiki’s Wanuri Kahiu.

+ Cameron Esposito recapped the Gentleman Jack premiere for Vulture. (It’s obviously very funny; you should read it.)

+ Killing Eve and Pose brought home some Peabody Awards.

+ Robyn Crawford has written a book about her life with Whitney Houston, which will land in November and which you can count on Carmen covering for you!

+ Burden of Truth will be back on The CW this summer, while CBS All Access has renewed The Good Fight for another season.

+ Pose lands on Netflix on May 10.

+ Molly Shannon chatted with PrideSource about Wild Nights With Emily.

+ I cannot believe Younger is kicking off its sixth season this summer. Here’s the first trailer!

+ Nielsen did a report specifically for LGBTQ households for the first time this year. Turns out the one thing we have in common with straight people is we’re also obsessed with Game of Thrones. (Though probably less so with Jon Snow, though the Nielsen does not confirm this theory.)

+ This isn’t typical Pop Culture Fix fare but I thought you’d like to know Caleb Rivers is bisexual.

+ Sara Gilbert’s coming to Atypical for season three apparently.

+ High hopes for All-American‘s second season if it gets a good Netflix bump now that it’s streaming.

+And finally: Barbara Lopez was so hyped to win our March Madness tournament!

  1. Jon Snow, pffffff
It’s all about Ser Brienne of Tarth, a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
She broke the knight glass ceiling!

  2. Wow, so many things to read! I just finished the first episode of Gentleman Jack so that link to Cameron’s recap is very timely.

  3. Brie Larson’s character in Hoot played a huge role in my childhood sexual awakening, so it’s always fun to see how much of a badass (and, let’s be real, how attractive) she is. I will legitimately cry if she ever comes out…
