+ Friends, I don’t know if you heard, but Suicide Squad is potentially the worst movie ever made. The reviews are so universally bad that the You-Know-Whos are trying to shut down Rotten Tomatoes so people won’t have a place to talk about what a garbage heap it is. However, your beloved Cara Delevingne is still in it which means she has been doing some good press, including her cover interview in this month’s Elle. (To read the interview you’ll have to either subscribe to Elle’s newsletter or confess “I am not interested in celebrity friendships.”)
On why she opened up about her own struggles on social media and in interviews after young fans started sharing theirs with her:
“I couldn’t just sit there and listen to these girls, and boys, too, but usually girls, say this stuff, about bullying, about their sexuality, depression, and guilt and suicidal thoughts and just all of it, without being like, ‘I have been through that, and it’s going to be okay.’ If I can help a teenager go through a better time than they should be, then I am going to fucking do that. I mean, fucking being a teenager suuuccccks. And I somehow came through the other end.”
Also, guess what? She is “completely in love.” (I mean, we knew that a million years before the liberal media elite, thanks to the unwavering investigative journalism of Ms. Stef Schwartz.)
“I’m completely in love… Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love,” she told us of her relationship with American singer-songwriter Annie Clark (known by her stage name St Vincent). “I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”
TV
+ There is going to be a new season of Arrested Development, Portia de Rossi will be involved with it, and it is going to film in 2017. Probably.
+ Relax, NBC is committed to that Cruel Intentions remake; they’ve just got to find the right digital platform to screen it because it’s “even sexier” than they imagined.
+ Jane Lynch is teaming up with Christopher Guest again, this time for his new Netflix series Mascots, which will premiere in October.
+ Betty’s coming back to Masters of Sex season four.
+ Obviously Rosie is going to be in Hairspray LIVE! (I wish she’d go back to The Fosters and straighten Brandon out in the meantime.)
+ Shannon Purser knows you love Barb.
+ E! will pull the plug on I Am Cait after season two.
Queer Humans, Out and About
+ Yes, in fact, we are going to be covering the Olympics. We now have an entire Slack channel devoted to it. Until that fateful day (which will occur in one day), I thought you might like to know that the U.S. Women’s National Team is ready to kick your ass, a thing FiveThirtyEight has endeavored to back up with statistics.
+ Kate McKinnon sure does love to talk about her cat.
+ GLAAD’s gonna honor Hannah Hart, yes they are.
