In kind of related note is shows crossing-over(or whatever the term is when two different shows are set in the same universe and their characters meet/cross paths) going to be a new thing for Netflix? They had a really quick scene in the new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt where it crosses with Orange is the New Black(and it answers even less questions about a certain queer character we never see but wondered who she is when season 1 came out). I am all for it, if it’s done well.
There’s an article on EW where the Kimmy Schmidt team said they approached OITNB’s creator to allow for a small cameo. Netflix had no real part in the crossover other than owning both shows. They were given a list of available actors by the OITNB team, chose the specific actor because they had previously worked on 30 Rock and were told not to write in anything that would impair the upcoming storylines.
That is interesting, I don’t remember the episode she was on, but will have to try to find it. I personally thought it was a nice bonus, and really has me wanting to see the new season despite what happened. I wonder if Kimmy’s friend will have a cameo in the new season of OITNB or even a quick mention of her in like a comedic manner.
OITNB stuff made me all full of rage (because I don’t think I will ever get over the senselessness of Poussey’s death last season).
Then that Carrie Fisher Star Wars article ripped my soul to pieces.
Now I’m crying, but I don’t know if they’re angry tears or sad tears.

I haven’t re-watched Queen Sugar‘s first season since it aired last year and I somehow forgot how stunning that show always is…the cinematography takes my breath away. I can’t wait for the season premiere on June 20th.

Speaking of Hulu, the streaming service is now the online home to the Starz network’s hit show, Power. The first two seasons are available now and the third–which features Anika Noni Rose as a lesbian cop–will be added later this year.
When I saw that Taystee and Poussey video I was cheering with excitement it was so awesome but I couldn’t help but think Taystee looked familiar aside from being a Yorkie Doppleganger and then it hit me, if you’ve ever seen the Mike Myers version of Cat in the Hat he does a skit where he plays an infomercial guy but it was sweater, bad blonde wig and glasses.

On a different sadder note, any Call the Midwife fans watching the current series? Well it looks like Emerald Fennell and Kate Lamb aka Patsy and Delia have decided to move on to other projects and won’t be back next series. So the last time we saw them in the finale is the last time we will see them.
What? Got any sources on that? Call the Midwife is my jam, and to see Patsy and Delia leave would break my heart :'(

a couple of UK sources broke the story, and I think both actors confirmed on twitter. BUT it’s open ended enough that they could be back for series 8 or 9, just not 7 (which is well under way filming right now).

I find it very curious that OITNB continues to get the benefit of the doubt at the same time that we are literally getting trigger warnings for any mention of the 100.
Riese made a good case for how boycotting OITNB is harmful to Autostraddle, and I don’t think boycotting it should necessarily be the only approach. But I also find it really inconsistent to see so many queer people arguing that we should keep watching OITNB on account of all the other queer characters and because it has a bisexual protagonist, when the 100 still has a bisexual protagonist of its own. The 100 arguably spent more time developing Lexa’s character and relationship than OITNB did with Poussey, who was only given a love interest right before she died and who was killed despite the actress wanting to stay on the show. I know that the 100 fucked up big time in multiple ways, but when I compare fan responses to each of these deaths it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Well this post was a rollercoaster of emotions.. tears, frustration, and then elation and joy. Currently re-watching X-Files and all I can say is wow how did 13 year old me not realize how gay I was for Scully?
