A. is a totally complete incomplete paraplegic and thirty-something hanky-in-the-pocket cartoonist weirdo! They spent the majority of their young life sketching in hospitals, and experienced their first heartbreak at age 8 during game 6 of the ’96 NBA championships.
Having not been hospitalized anywhere near as much as you, this is one time where I’m reminded of how much I’ve enjoyed taking care of patients like you, Alyssa. It’s always a joy and despite it being the hospital, it’s great having fun and good days together no matter what. :)
And just thanks for talking about this stuff. I just really appreciate it because I’m also pretty nonchalant about my health stuff and it just…makes people who haven’t experienced that really uncomfortable (it’s especially frustrating with some of my boating friends because we tell the river stories about injuries or seriously rescues as party jokes and it’s real chill but…talking health and hospitalizations for not boating-related-incidents and it’s real awkward and I wish it weren’t).
