Wow, is it Sunday already? Well, I hope you went to church, you little heathens. Why don’t you follow up on your holy morning by having a holy afternoon in bed with a lady/vibrator and a book. Yes, a book!
1. The Whole Lesbian Sex Book: A Passionate Guide for All of Us – The lesbian sex bible. You can read it on your kindle so nobody has to know. Or you can buy it for someone and then everyone will know, because you’ll be so good in bed or something.
2. Real Live Nude Girl: Chronicles of Sex-Positive Culture: This is a really fun collection of essays by Queer Carol Queen, on topics “ranging from pelvic exams, pornography law, the men’s movement, sex as art, Madonna, and sacred whoredom.”
3. The New Lesbian Sex Book, 3rd Edition – Interviews with REAL LIVE LESBIANS about their sex lives, has the impact of reminding you that there’s a lot of lesbians out there having sex and it’s not just you and your partner(s) in your teeny tiny village by the sea.
4. Big Sex Little Death: A Memoir by Susie Bright – Mega-famous pro-sex feminist author’s memoir tells the story of a “fearful Irish Catholic Girl Scout to gun-toting teenage revolutionary—and finally the “The Avatar of American Erotica”(NYTimes)… her early involvement with notorious high school radicalsThe Red Tideas well as the magazine she co-founded in the 1980s, On Our Backs—the first-ever erotic magazine created by women, which turned the lesbian and bisexual community upside down before it took the “straight” world by storm.”
5. Lesbian Sex: 101 Lovemaking Positions: I bet you don’t know anything about the Joyride, Tongue and Groove, Toast Her, Gilding the Lily, Peach Gobbler, Hanky Spanky, Girl Wrap or Velvet Rope, do ya? Well you could change that.
6. Sexual Intimacy for Women: A Guide for Same-Sex Couples: This is a serious book by Glenda Corwin, PhD, for ladies who want to “examine the emotional, physical and psychological aspects of their relationships, with the goal of creating more intimacy.”
7. The Ethical Slut: A Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships & Other Adventures – This is what Margaret Cho has to say about The Ethical Slut: “This book is the definitive guide to having your marriage and eating other people too. The Ethical Slut made me the ethical slut I am today, and I am so proud!”
8 The Big Book of Sex Toys: From Vibrators and Dildos to Swings and Slings–Playful and Kinky Bedside Accessories That Make Your Sex Life Amazing: Tristan Taormino is a v.important “author, sex expert and adult film director” and also a queer — “Whether you’re a curious novice or an advanced aficionado The Big Book of Sex Toys offers recommendations and advice for the top toys in every category from vibrators to butt plugs to bondage and tells you everything you need to know but were too shy to ask.”
9. Jayme Waxman isn’t a lesbian but she is just the greatest, so this book is too: Getting Off: A Woman’s Guide to Masturbation.
10. Susie Sexpert’s Lesbian Sex World – The cover of this book sort of makes me want to die but I’d just like to point out that this is where I first read about fisting.
11. Best of the Best Lesbian Erotica: Contributors include Dorothy Fucking Allison, Pat Califia, Cecilia Tan, Kate Bornstein and Joan Nestle.
12. Nothing but the Girl: The Blatant Lesbian Image A Portfolio and Exploration of Lesbian Erotic Photography– Artsy but sexay photos and artist biographies from photographers like Diana Blok, Tee A. Corrine, Jill Posener and Honey Lee Cottrell.
What are your favorite sex-related books?
i want every single book. now.
i see the benefit to having a kindle right about now.
Haha thanks to this article I discovered Kindle for PC. You can even download part of the book for free!
I used to not have time to read. I will now make time.
I’m so honored tone on your excellent bookshelf!
I really enjoyed The Ethical Slut – it has relevant information even if you’re not poly. 101 Lovemaking Positions was a fun read too!
Other books on my list include:
The New Bottoming/Topping Book(s) (not lesbian specific, but I’ve heard good things)
and
Screw The Roses, Send Me The Thorns
The New Bottoming/Topping Book(s) are DEFINITELY worth reading. Like Bree said, they aren’t lesbian-specific, but if you’re at all interested in/curious about kink and powerplay and such, they’re fantastic reads. Well written, informative, accessible, and awesome! Also, if you’re a sub/bottom/what have you, reading the topping book can be really helpful, and vice versa!
I have no sexy books to recommend. The only one I own that comes close is Best Lesbian Love Stories: New York City because I lacked the balls to actually go and order proper erotica. Ah, Kindle, how do I love thee? let me count the ways…
i think the first picture is of a dude and a lady(layin in bed)..look at the hair on the forearms.just sayin
I don’t know that person’s gender, but it really doesn’t matter.
Actually I have more hair than that on my arms. It’s gross, I know, but I’m still a lady!
ladies ladies ladies. having hair on your arms OR ANYWHERE ELSE is NOT GROSS. don’t ever ever say that again! raaaawwwrrr!
Word.
Also, re: anywhere else:

rock it, gals.
Heh. The only people who ever say that to me are on the internet! When they see me in person they’re all “…oh. Nevermind. Go wax! Wait, you’re not a werewolf, are you? Are you?!?”
Have you ever seen an Italian woman during winter?
Just sayin :).
I’m still waiting for the Pulitzer-prize winning tome of EVAN RACHEL WOOD BISEXUAL
It might be a dude but that’s a totally reasonable amount of arm hair for beautiful Mediterranean women :)
Well now I know what I’m using my B&N gift card for. Hello books 1 and 7.
It’s not a dude.
Males have something called a suprorbital ridge, it’s a boney prominence of the brow that women lack.
Regardless of hair, she clearly has a smooth brow—
sorry sorry sorry, Science Geek will now shut up and go to sleep.
For people who aren’t comfortable being seen reading these books (or anything else) –
If you access AS on a device you own, chances are good you can buy books and read them on a free Kindle reading app for that device (iphone, windows pc, mac, blackberry, ipad, android, windows 7 phone). http://amzn.to/9CfhDH
FAIR WARNING: the Kindle apps only support one registered account on each device and there is no login. So if you download the Kindle reader to your family desktop and then buy some books or download sample chapters, anyone else (partner, parent, roommate, child) who opens the app can see what you’ve downloaded. If they know what to look for they can also see what you’ve sent to any other device associated with your Kindle account (e.g. your mobile).
If you’re determined, the workaround is to deregister the Kindle app every time you’re done using it and then register it again the next time you want to read (google for instructions).
I feel that all these books should be in my bookcase already.
Actually, I’m going to go search them in my local library’s database. If any of them are there… I think I’ll go there and ask that cute young librarian with the sexy hair to help me find them. PLAN.
Lesbian Cowboy Erotica. Need I say more?
Definitely ordering 5 and 12, just told my wife admittedly she is more happy with 5 than 12…lol
I neeeeed a copy of the ethical slut.
I’ve been meaning to get a copy of The Ethical Slut, but I kind of want to buy it in person at a bookstore just to keep it in the spirit of brazen hussy-ness.
I gotta get some of these!!!
