Our January calendar girl Jennifer Nieves peformed last week in New York City’s NC-17 burlesque and queer performance art show, Hypergender.

I’ve only been to one other burlesque show. It was at Orchid Lounge, which I remember being sexy & pretty and featuring a few curvy girls removing French maid costumes to reveal sparkly pasties. But this wasn’t that. This was more peformance art and should come with a big warning at the door – “HOLD UP: YOU MAY GET SOAKED AT THIS SHOW, AND I DON’T MEAN JUST IN YOUR PANTS.”
Every act was individual, queer and unpretentious. Mini-liquor bottle pasties, leg-shaving, stripping, beard-shaving, and front-row waterworks abounded. Bambi Galore and Darlinda were definitely favorites, but clearly the show’s highlight was Fussy Chanel, a.k.a. Miss January, Jennifer. As one of JZ Bich’s “bitchettes,” Fussy Chanel was hot ball of sexy, fun energy, and I don’t think we were the only ones who noticed.
All in all, it was an entertaining evening filled with tits and ass, and even a little vadge, which is always appreciated. I just have to warn you, if RoseWood is performing, you might want to sit in the back row.
