The past 24 hours have been pretty fantastic.
Fiona Apple, “Every Single Night”
Fiona Apple continues to amaze me, she really can’t set a foot wrong. The first single from her upcoming album, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do (out June 19) is SO GOOD. I suspect this song is all I’ll be listening to on my 14-hour flight to A-Camp tomorrow, and that it won’t be enough.

Missy Higgins, “Unashamed Desire”
I’m equally fond of this new single and music video by Missy Higgins, which is her first release in five years and quite the head nod to bisexuality. As Missy sings sweet words about having nothing to hide, boy and girl dancers strip her clothing off piece by piece and then she starts throwing around rainbow confetti. Pedestrian quipped “The presser (for the video) says it’s about her decision to quit music, which we totally believe if her decision to quit music was related to being proud of her sexuality.” Pretty much.
The music video was directed by Natasha Pincus, who was also responsible for that Gotye music video. You know the one. Missy’s new album, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, will be out on June 1.
