Foolish Child #98: Corporate Pride

In a four panel comic of multi-color background, Dickens is complaining about Corporate Pride... that is until their new Pride Lego set comes in! Then all bets are off!

    • wow, that is really messed up! I was excited about it but now it’s so much worse than if they did nothing. I’m not interested in capitulating one iota to people who think gayness and queerness are “adult only” ideas, identities, and/or experiences. Thank you for mentioning this.

      • I think this is an unfair assessment. They have a lot of sets labeled 18+, mainly just the ones that are more complicated or decorative. For example there’s a bonsai tree set that’s 18+. So I don’t think the age labels can be interpreted as like, moral judgments. Just like, who might enjoy this Lego set? Probably not children.

        • seconding this. there’s a decent chunk of 18+ lego sets that are fairly simple projects, but also are somewhat delicate and are meant to be displayed on a desk, rather than played with

    • I own several 18+ LEGO sets. It’s not about the content, it’s the difficulty level in putting them together. My other 18+ sets are a grand piano and a Nintendo console and TV set.

      • thank you all for your clarifying comments, I really appreciate it. and I will be ordering some pride legos :D

        • but it would still be cooler if there would ALSO be an easy pride set for the queer kids. and the impatient adults.

          • …I just had a look. This set looks super easy. So I’m back to anger about the age recommendation :-)

          • Yeah there are only a few pieces. Like someone else said, the age recommendation is more to do with the fact that it’s a display piece. The age rec on LEGO have nothing to do with the appropriateness of the content outside of choking hazards and fragility. I haven’t put mine together yet but judging by the structure of it, both my 3yo and my 9yo would destroy it in minutes, lol.

  1. yes rainbow capitalism is bad and companies treating us as a source of profit is not actually better than being ignored BUT my cat and i can get matching rainbow tank tops so

  2. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dickens, you’re perfect! I ordered two of these to use as bookends; I think they look SO cool. I hopefully have enough minifig space helmets in corresponding colors to use those and make them EVEN GAYER.
