It’s sort of a weird story about how I started reading stark. raving. mad. mommy. Because I am only stark raving mad and not a mommy, it might be a bit counter-intuitive (note: counter-intuitive = my favourite word) for me to be reading this blog. But you guys, stark. raving. mad. mommy is hilarious and amazing.

It started when Rachel wrote about mommy bloggers and I began to read Sarah Hoffman’s blog about her gender non-conforming son which I was interested in because my teacher was telling me about her gender non-conforming son. On Sarah Hoffman’s blog I clicked on stark. raving. mad. mommy’s link, and voila.

Stark. raving. mad. mommy has 1 husband and 4 children. Read a more in depth description about them here. The short version of it is that one child is an extreme worrier, one has ADHD, one has twisted shin bones and needs physical therapy, and one has Asperger’s. Oh yeah, and they were all allergic to different things at one point or another. Needless to say, their lives are a little crazy. Stark. raving. mad. mommy is smart, updates frequently, and raises awareness about these issues. It’s fast become one of my favourite blogs, and it doesn’t even have anything to do with my life!

Also never underestimate the power of mommy bloggers.

Emily Choo started as an intern with Autostraddle when she was 18 years old. She’s now 10 years older and lives in Toronto with her partner and cat. The defining moment of her career was when Riese said this about her: ” I think Emily Choo is a very bright, ‘poetically inclined’ girl who pays attention to everything and knows almost everything (the point of stuff, how to read, how beautiful things feel, how scary things feel, etc.) but doesn’t believe/accept/realize yet that she knows almost everything.” She still doesn’t believe she knows anything, so, thank you, Riese, for that.
