Do you know who’s great and also gay? Trick question, I was thinking of TWO people: Ellen Page and Ellen DeGeneres. We’ve written before about how their coming out stories are related in more ways than just nominally, but in an interview that’s scheduled to air May 27, the two Ellens talked about what it means to come out in the spotlight and how they admire one another for their respective courage. It’s about as heartwarming as it gets.
Ellen Page says a lot of good words, including these words that are nice and that I like a whole lot:
I was so ready to (come out) and quite frankly so excited to do it, so it was a combination of just such thrill to finally be at that place in my life where I was able to do that. And [I was] grateful to have that moment and grateful to you because you did it at a time where it was much harder and much scarier
