The Jezabels is not a typo. It’s the creative spelling of an enthusiastic-looking indie/pop/rock quartet from Sydney, Australia, who create sophisticated sounds that are well worth your attention.
The Jezabels are Hayley (vocals), Heather (keys), Nik (drums) and Sam (guitar) – one of Australia’s hardest working bands and solid fixtures on the national festival and pub circuits. Some of you homos may already be familiar with the band, as they’ve been invited on multiple tours with Tegan & Sara. Their days in the support slot are likely numbered, however, as the band are starting to build a reputation for eclipsing some of the artists that they open for.
The Jezabels will be performing multiple shows during the CMJ Music Marathon, and touring Canada soon after. Get the full details. Their recently released Dark Storm EP is available via iTunes stores worldwide.
Check out one of the Jezabels’ more recent music videos, Easy To Love, below.
thanks for this post! i randomly heard about them last week, and their 3 EPs have been on repeat ever since. ‘disco biscuit love’ hooked me within about the first 24 seconds. (video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA5AyVdm3CM )
I. love. The Jezabels!!!
Freaking awesome live, go see ’em.
I’ve been hooked on this band since you first mentioned them in a team pick earlier this year. I probably didn’t say it back then but great recommendation, Crystal. Gotta get the latest EP now. Thanks for the heads up!
I’ve actually written about this band before? Ha. Clearly I need to get some new material.
But I’m glad you’re still following them!
jezabels = swoon
i love these guys… seen them twice this yr!
missed out on a 3rd time this weekend at one movement :(
i was lucky enough to have a chat with them, they are a lovely bunch and seem very appreciative of their fans :)
Autostraddle, you are always so relevant to my interests! I’m all about the Jezabels. I saw them open for TnS twice this year and Hayley is probs the most adorbs dancer in the world! For serious, she could not be more endearing.
Also, Disco Biscuit Love!
Oh my…the lead singer is so so hawt.
Also, she can really sing-also important.
i have this thing about australian bands where i’m obsessed with them.
like the temper trap and buckley ward and the panics and missy higgins and architecture in helsinki and hungry kids of hungary and a lot more that i’m just not even going to get into.
i don’t know where it comes from; i’ve never even been there.
my parents watched crocodile dundee a lot when i was a kid.
hot female musicians are the best ever. makes the music way more enjoyable for me when it’s created by attractive people. i’m quite shallow, thknaks for the post
Thanks for bringing these guys up again. Love their stuff. Gonna follow them around the traps. No Not a Stalker….. just very very into them. When do we get a full CD not just a song or two?
Their debut album is going to be released mid next year, according to The Vine. Check it: http://www.thevine.com.au/music/interviews/the-jezebels-talk-itunes,-literary-themes-and-moderation20101106.aspx
