$204k So Far with 70% of Gifts at $50 or Less!? You're Really Impressive!

Thank you for chipping in what you could — $5, $10, $100, more. Thank you for becoming a member or getting a Queer4Queer media sticker. Just… thank you.

We’re almost to our goal. And while trying to raise this much money is new and frightening territory that we have never dared to gayly swagger through, we are in fact on track with where we thought we’d be and here’s why:

We know our readers, we know you. We know you’re not rich! We aren’t either! That’s one of the reasons we’re determined to keep Autostraddle 99% free. Only 12% of our contributions are more than $100, and of that, I could count the number of $1,000 gifts on my fingers (THANK YOU IF THIS IS YOU!!). We hold each and every person, all 3,045 of you, who gave $5, $10, $50 in our heart. We got to where we are now, to over $204,000 because of people, the members of this community, who gave $50 or less. We’re building this house brick by brick here.

It takes a while to do things this way and that is okay! We’re progressing at about the pace that we did during the August fundraiser. It takes time to get the word out! Not everyone can give all on the same day, not everyone hears about the fundraiser or has time on the same day. We are all humans here! We know you have lives!

We are also OVERJOYED to welcome the over 642 people who signed up for A+!! We’re so glad you’re here. Thank you, especially and also, to the 90 members who upgraded. A+ membership makes a huge difference and was a big part of the reason we were able to weather last year. AND it starts at $4 a month.
