Still Valerie here. Hope you’re staying as rested and hydrated as possible so we can all stay fresh for the fight. Here’s your biweekly Pop Culture Fix.
While we were intentionally pausing our regular publishing scheduling to focus on the racial justice uprisings sweeping the nation, two very important pop culture things happened and I want to get you caught up:
+ Last week, Chyler Leigh came out as queer. (You have to register to read that, but you can make a free account, you don’t have to subscribe. Or check out this Instagram post of hers! Or this one! You can also buy Pride Merch she designed and is selling via her charity org.)
+ And Lili Reinhart ALSO came out as a “proud bisexual woman.” It was a “I’m going to the LGBTQ+ Folks for Black Lives Matter protest and I don’t want to hear about it so just FYI I’m bisexual” type thing. But nicer, because she’s Lili. Anyway, it was great.
Congrats to both Chyler and Lili, and also happy Pride to us! 🎉 🌈
+ Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was renewed for Season 2
+ Da Brat wishes she came out as a lesbian years ago.
+ More old-timey lesbians for you, this time in the book The Tree and the Vine by Dola de Jong.
+ Rumors about what Batwoman’s plans were post-Ruby Rose were flying around like… well, like bats, first that they wouldn’t recast her but would give someone else the cowl, then that the new person wearing the cowl would be an entirely new character instead of one of the existing residents of Gotham, and then, most concerning, a rumor that they would kill Kate Kane. Luckily that last one seems to be false.
