Welcome to NSFW Sunday! Just so we’re all on the same page, this is not totally a coronavirus-only edition of the NSFW, but the virus will feature prominently because that’s what’s in the news and also because personally I am finding it immensely challenging to think of anything else.

Can you fuck during quarantine?:

“Unfortunately, it’s extremely neurotic to hyper-analyze a partner’s every sneeze, and I think we’re all struggling to adapt to the social hyper-vigilance that coronavirus demands. Is it okay to evacuate yourself from a booty call due to fear of contagion? Are we all being way too extra? Am I going to be gossiped about in their group text later? Who cares. Brown tells us not to worry about committing a hookup faux pas — your health is too important to take lightly.

‘We should always ask about our sexual partner’s health. If we’re having penetrative sex, we should ask about STIs. If someone is coughing or sneezing, ask how they’re feeling. If they aren’t well, defer the date or the sex to the future,’ he suggests. ‘It’s always good to protect yourself.'”

Can you even kiss during quarantine?

“[K]issing is probably the most efficient way to spread the virus. [Covid-19] does not appear to sexually transmit. However, all sex is close contact. You’re breathing on each other, you’re hopefully touching each other a lot. I guess I could imagine everybody showering, sanitizing yourself when you came into the house, and showering beforehand and making sure you’re never face-to-face, but it doesn’t sound like a lot of fun.

The short line on this is all sex is close contact. It’s the definition of close contact. So there’s no way to have it without risking transmission.”

Just in case it needs to be said: if you don’t feel well, don’t go out. At this point you shouldn’t be going out for non-survival reasons anyway so consider having a FaceTime first date or something instead.

  1. Thank you for the article about avoiding pandemic anxiety-spirals; as a veteran anxiety-spiraler, it’s all good advice. I want to stay informed but I have to limit my intake of news right now. Stress-induced GI upset during an international toilet paper shortage is a bad idea

  2. You should not be going out even if you feel well. Asymptomatic or mild symptom spread among <40 year olds is part of the problem. Stay home and self isolate please

  3. Those of us who need to self isolate the most are often least able to!! I’m disabled, I live alone, I don’t drive and have no support system. I have friends in other areas in the same boat. If able-bodied car-drivers weren’t so greedy I wouldn’t have had to go shopping THREE DAYS RUNNING to THREE DIFFERENT SHOPS for basic stuff.

  4. Get success! I think it could be a very useful blog and website. Our research on this topic has lead us to the best information. This is great information!
