Also.Also.Also: 2022’s Best Butch Fashion Came From the WNBA Draft

Today is a ridiculously sad day because today’s the day that after 25 years of independent feminist media, Bitch Media announced they are closing.

I keep trying to find the words and I keep coming up short.

Special Edition: WNBA DRAFT DAY

Less than ten years ago Brittney Griner had the audacity to wear a suit to her WNBA Draft Day and the world stopped. But damn, look how far we’ve come now…

Destanni Henderson, to the Indiana Fever

Emily Engstler, also to the Indiana Fever

Kierstan Bell, to the Las Vegas Aces

Nalyssa Smith, once again going to the Indiana Fever, I Think Officially Now the Gayest Team in Basketball

No but seriously, look at all this swag, the unadulterated drip, I could cry:

If you follow the WNBA for sports not for fashion (shock, I know) — here’s a recap of yesterday’s proceedings but honestly I get all my WNBA writing from Natalie, and you should too.

WNBA Draft Day also came with (still slim) updates about Brittney Griner in Russia and what the league is doing to bring her home as quickly as possible. It’s absolutely impossible to look at this joy and not have Griner weigh heavy. She changed the culture for so many. The people in these photos? They were kids when Griner first wore her suit. KIDS! It’s called a legacy. Come home safe, BG. ❤️

Queer as in F*ck You

YALL BETTER SCREAM FOR ABENI BEING IN THE WASHINGTON POST BECAUSE THAT IS A VERY BIG DEAL, SCREAM FOR HER, YES I SAID SCREAM TWICE: I’m Transgender. I Won’t Be Getting an X on My Passport. “The State Department should make it so trans people don’t have to out ourselves at the airport.”

Disney Heir Charlee Comes Out as Trans, Slams ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill

This Beach in Mexico Is an L.G.B.T.Q. Haven. But Can It Last? “The town of Zipolite has become an oasis for the queer community. But as its popularity has surged, some worry that the town’s spirit is beginning to vanish.”

Syd’s New Love Story. “The singer-producer’s new album, Broken Hearts Club, sheds the hedonistic visions of her earlier work.” We have a piece in the works for you about Syd’s new album, publishing later this week!

Who Is Dove Cameron? Let’s Find Out. Two things: 1) I cannot stop playing Dove Cameron’s very queer and hot “Boyfriend” even though at my Very Big Age, I’m not her target demographic — it’s just so fucking good, and 2) If you squint, there’s some interesting stuff in here about the assumptions people make about femme cis women who “pass” as straight

oh gosh, can we get a 2022 gayest team in the wnba roundtable piece, please? and suggesting Dr. Phillips participate to make the table round, as it were, buuuuuuut also to rep all the AS readers who are not sportsball inclined, but are very ‘gayest (insert noun)’ inclined.
