Zine Crush: I Love You Queerly

Hello humans of Autostraddle! Are you interested in donating to an amazing organization, SAGE, a charity for the Services and Advocacy of GLBT Elders, while also receiving an amazing zine showcasing queer love in all forms? I Love You Queerly is a collaborative zine being sold for charity that celebrates queer expressions of love. In this case, “queer” means any way love is expressed outside of the mainstream romantic love narratives that society promotes and celebrates. In the spirit of spreading the love, these donations will help to support those who paved the way for us to be able to love outside of the mainstream, however that may occur for us.

Riese has a page in the zine!

I got this reply from one of my contributors after she submitted:

“Writing really is good for the soul but it so often gets put on the back burner in my life. This project has definitely inspired me to stop neglecting writing, especially poetry, and to actually share some of my stuff with other people from time to time.”

Here is a quote from the piece “Found Family” by Allison Tate-Cortese (that relates to A-Camp!):

“It’s a gift creatively untethered by trembling fingertips reaching out/beyond the nuclear, embracing the nebulous and the nuanced/Striking spaces where we can breath deep alpine clear/to laugh./And unabashedly living the truest version of yourself/Is how you continue to give”

Print and online copies are available! Love is really wonderful, and sometimes it’s awful… love is a lot of different things for a lot of different people, and it’s time to celebrate it as such.

  1. Idk how I feel about BDSM being grouped in with the queer community…but I’m pretty sure I don’t feel too positive about it.

    • Hi! Thanks for voicing your concern. I wanted to be really clear in this *specific case* queer means any way love is expressed outside of the mainstream. I’m not using queer to denote sexual orientation, and definitely am not trying to conflate being queer with BDSM. Sorry for the confusion!
