Some of the sexiest scenes in cinematic history are scenes that don’t involve sex at all. One of the greatest examples is Sharon Stone crossing her legs, a scene that screams sex without the sex. I saw a lot of movies this year (thanks, MoviePass!), and a good number of them ruined my life by supplying me with GIFs I can’t stop watching on a loop. These are 2017’s eight most homoerotic movie scenes that weren’t sex scenes.
8. Charlize Theron pulling up her turtleneck (before killing men) in Atomic Blonde
Clothing is such an important part of this movie’s sex appeal.
7. Rebecca Hall tilting her head like this in Professor Marston and the Wonder Women
This movie is full of really hot, queer sex. But even when its central poly couple isn’t engaging in roleplay and bondage, Professor Marston drips with sensuality. Rebecca Hall is hypnotizing.
6. Letty Ortiz driving a vintage Corvette through the streets of New York in The Fate Of The Furious

Ok, so it in no way compares to the homoeroticism of Michelle Rodriguez and Ronda Rousey beating each other up in Furious 7, but I love each and every time that Letty Ortiz gets behind the wheel in cinematic history.
5. The dance off from Girls Trip
Dance offs are gay (see also: Cheryl/Veronica on Riverdale). And in my professional opinion, Sasha (Queen Latifah) and Ryan (Regina Hall) are ex-girlfriends (and I’m not the only one who thinks so), which is plainly obvious throughout the movie. It’s a great movie, and this is a great (and sexy!) scene. Tiffany Haddish’s jumpsuit deserves awards.
4. Marilyn cutting Billie Jean King’s hair in Battle Of The Sexes
This movie blesses us with not just one but TWO sensual haircut scenes. This achievement is so important that I wrote an entire article about it.
3. Antiope shooting three arrows at once in Wonder Woman
Everything about Antiope in Wonder Woman screams gay and, more, specifically, Mommi. She can shoot me with her arrows any day.
2. Every time Cate Blanchett did this in Thor: Ragnarok
I pass out a little bit every time I see this.
1. Tessa Thompson walking away from a rainbow explosion in Thor: Ragnarok
Look, Thor: Ragnarok is a movie full of hot people. Thompson’s Valkyrie was written as bisexual, and even though that does get implied in the movie, the scene that was supposed to explicitly confirm it got cut, which is upsetting, but I will cherish this gif forever.
That scene in Battle of the Sexes was the most intimate thing I have ever witnessed on-screen. I just loved loved loved loved it.
Thor 2 made me gayer, for the reasons mentioned above.
(wonder woman spoilers ahead i guess?)

ok so I finally saw Wonder Woman last week and I didn’t realise Antiope was in it for such a short amount of time! I felt like that was false advertising and as amazing as Gal Gadot is, I basically lost interest after she left Themyscira. :(
I agree that the time in Themyscira was the best part of the film. It was still a good film once they left, but that was my fave bit.
Basically the first 30 minutes of the film were a really excellent pilot episode for a TV show about amazons on Themyscira. I can take or leave the rest of the film, but that first 30 minutes is incredible.
Same. I rented the film, got up after she left the island, went to find snacks, and didn’t return to watch the rest. But that opening half-hour! Having only women on-screen was so wonderful!
I wasn’t spoiled at all and I was slack jawed and making little animal noises throughout the first thirty minutes. Especially the fight scenes.
I was zero prepared for Robin Wright, seriously, and it was one of the most rewarding movie going experiences ever.
Expectations make and break Themyscira, I guess?
Robin Wright is the reason I watch House of Cards and the perfect example to understand what a MOMMI really is. And Cate Blanchet is a goddess! She can make a any plain scene hot as hell (just watch Carol) just by tilting her head or smirking or simply breathing!
Thor: Ragnarok is the QUEEREST thing I have seen on film in years. I’m certain that basically everyone in that movie is queer.
Valkyrie? Queer. Loki? Queer. Jeff Goldblum’s Character? Queer. Hela? SO FUCKING QUEER. I loved it.
THIS :D
I don’t know how Taika Waititi does it but even his all-male Vampire comedy What we do in the Shadows, which should com off as super sexist, is actually coming off super-queer (highly recommended for undiluted Waititi camp)
You had me at Charlize.
entire list could have easily been composed of ‘atomic blonde’ gifs, frankly.
Does anyone remember when Thor hints at Valkyrie’s bi status, because I had my eyes peeled (PEELED I tell you!) and I didn’t catch a thing! Although to be fair I may have been repeatedly thrust into a catatonic state every two minutes by Cate Blanchett’s Blanchett-iness and just missed it
The only place you could stretch it to on screen is her reaction in the flashback when her fellow warrior dies. The actress says she played her queer, and I think you can see it in that death scene…but. She’s canonically queer in the comics. They cut the scene with a woman leaving her room.
Thanks! I thought the fellow Valkyrie stuff was a bit queer but frankly I project queerness on everything so I have no gauge of when someone’s doing it intentionally so thanks for your help kiddo!
Did we see a different version?
From the Valkyrian flashback scene it was obvious that she had a female partner who was killed in the past. And that this loss was the reason she drinks and hides. I didn’t think she was bi but rather lesbian.
Michelle Rodriguez and Ronda Rousey beating each other up Was soooo good
Can I remind people that Ronda Rousey is very transphobic and offensive. She refused to fight Fallon Fox and called her some terrible names.
Please do and if you’re not here next time I will do it.
I don’t forgive or forget people’s nastiness just because they’re aesthetically pleasing.
I would also like to point out that the ship Tessa Thompson is walking away from is in the colours of the Aboriginal flag.
So like if the anti-colonialism and anti-imperialist vein that runs through the whole movie like a vena cava etc. gets you hot the bisexual power walk away from the rainbow explosion might just get you just a bit hotter.
I didn’t know that, thank you for the info!
Makes me love the director even more.
