Friends, Romans, country queers, what the heck is going on? This week felt 17 years long and it was also kinda awful! What’s really making me feel the stress of this moment in our lives however, is that no one cares about good news anymore! Don’t type feminism into Google News because guess what? The first 10 entries are all about a MAN who is NOT a feminist! It’s sad. But you know what, today is Sunday Funday, not Sunday Complain-day and I want this to be a solace against the cold dark world. Because, to paraphrase Hazel London, “If you can’t go to Sunday Funday for a good time, where the hell could you go?”

I love you so much! Go love on yourselves and your pals so we can make it through another week!
I have nice news
The New Orleans’ mayoral race is a runoff between two women of color. A historic first which will end in a historic first no matter who wins.
Also their speeches after the results came through were very nice and focused on an improve and repair platform rather than denigrating their opponent.
One of the candidates crowed a bit about succeeding in spite of being targeted by a local business man who decided not to run at the last minute but paid for ads against her and starred in one.
The future is female y’all.
I am so distracted by Patti Harrison’s amazing plaid dress rn… I literally am struggling to put my words together correctly to comment on how amazing it is and how much I desperately need it.
I’m really taking offence at that “only out trans woman in animation” line. I’ve been in and out of the industry for around ten years and I know I wasn’t even alone when I started. Come on, Alaina, don’t go erasing us so casually.
That said, I think I can accept that she’s the only out trans woman who is a co-creator of a series currently in production with a major distributor, but no less specific than that.
Loved the all too brief feature on Shadi Petosky, and can only agree – it’s a better world for being able to grow up and see, even (especially?) when young, that you’re *not alone* for being different.
Bakersfield’s surely not the easiest locale to be queer. That center’s surely got to be a lifesaver for some, maybe even literally.
If there is, against all the odds, such a thing as reincarnation, can I get to choose to be anywhere near as amazing as St Vincent next time around? (Reminds me, I must rewatch the mesmerising Cloud Atlas sometime)
