Hey cool kids, can I sit with y’all???? I hope you’re well! Yesterday, I hosted a dinner thing with a friend, and someone said the nicest thing to me in gratitude and it took everything I had to not start crying! People who really work to see me for who I am? I don’t know what to do with that. I’m glad it happened, though, I really needed to hear it. Friends matter so much, y’all.
And now, for some cute news from the week.
+ Crissle West has earned her time in the spotlight.
+ Carmen Maria Machado on Star Trek: TNG
+ D’Arcy Carden and Abbi Jacobson are set to star in League of Their Own series on Amazon!?
+ U-Haul knows about U-Hauling!!!!!
We miss you, Nicolette! 🧡 But we understand, when the time is right, we'll be here! 👍 https://t.co/3b4ccISQZ6

+ Wow, science has discovered that trans people who want and get gender affirmation surgeries have better mental health in the long-term. What a surprise.
+ Anna Akana of Netflix’s Let it Snow (the film that made famous Jewish film critic Drew Gregory believe in Christmas and love) talks about LGBTQ representation in the film.
“Growing up, I never really saw myself in characters,” Akana says. “I was always like, ‘Oh, I’m trying to identify with the straight white man in this film because that’s all there is.’ But it’s really great to see something not only portrayed so diverse, but also inclusive romantically, so I hope people are able to take away some form of themselves in it.”
+ An interview with Stevie Boebi, a queer Youtube sex educator.
+ The Personals app (rebranded as Lex) is making waves in the queer dating scene.
+ Meryl Streep is finally getting the chance she deserves: to be Co-Chair of the 2020 Met Gala
+ Witchfest is making witchcraft radical and political for some
+ More witch news! Lindy West is reclaiming the witch hunt: “Sure, if you insist…I’m a witch, and I’m hunting you.”
That’s all I got today pals. What good things did you observe last week? What good things are you gonna look for next week? Maybe, instead of crying because it’s dark at 5 pm (me), we can like…take this as an opportunity to see more stars, or honestly, even to go to bed early! OR take a bath, because it’s cold! You deserve all the good things. All of them. Love you so much, see you again next week.

We become the cool kids if you sit with us, Al(aina), have a comfy chair! Or a firm one if that’s more your thing.
…and your comment about the stars reminded me of “I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night” in the Sadie Williams poem.
Thanks for all the links! Perfect for lazy Sunday reading with tea ☕
Agreed, Al(aina)’s presence would instantly increase the coolness quotient of any seating arrangement
Hey Al(aina)! Thanks for the article on the swedish trans surgery study! I spent yesterday at a gender conference, and participated in a panel on vaginoplasty. There were maybe thirty people there to see a presentation by the surgical team and then ask four of us who had had surgery about our experiences. The sense of community was incredible. The conference overall had a record attendance and raised a ton of money for trans causes!
That’s great, Snow!
Thank you! I feel pretty great about it!
MERYL STREEP LOVE OF MY LIFE
also when i saw there was a league of their own series in the works i spontaneously combusted into a shower of red dirt, white chalk, and grass stains because boy fuckin howdy am i a baseball queer
I, too, spontaneously combusted! Underappreciated insanely queer root movie!
two out of two caitlins agree! that’s a quorum, folks!
Al(aina), though I am cynical and pessimistic I always read this column. In part because your opening and closing notes are always so wonderful and comforting and remind me to be gentle with myself. Thanks for the good news and the uplifting and encouraging notes!
I am so happy to see Crissle getting so much attention.
