Jamie’s Team Pick:
When I learned Lizz Andronaco was looking for models for her paintings, I figured I might know a few people who would want to volunteer. That’s right, I’m lookin’ at you.
When Lizz paints she draws on Jenny Saville’s work in terms of style of paint and treatment of the female body, and credits artists Julie Rrap, Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman, and Barbara Hammer as inspiration. Her paintings capture queer sexuality in an honest, sensual way I find both striking and refreshing.
With work that addresses politics, pop culture and religion Lizz notes, “I think comedy is a powerful tool in both life and art because it’s kind of like a loophole for discussing serious matters.” Clearly we here at Autostraddle agree.

To see more paintings, videos and photography by Lizz and for contact information visit her website, and let her know if you’re interested in modeling! The artist is based in New Jersey and is looking for models in the New York City area of all shapes, sizes, identities and state of transition. Also, also, also Lizz is looking to start a new series of queer women and their pets referencing classic 19th century upper-class portraiture with a particular interest in those of you with pets other than cats and dogs. (I can’t wait to see these!)
