Pop Culture Fix: Kristen Stewart Made a Movie for Netflix About Her Life in COVID Isolation

It’s supposedly Wednesday! Here’s you Pop Culture Fix!

+ Netflix has dropped the trailer for Homemade, a collection of short films made in isolation, including one from Kristen Stewart.

+ Terry Crews says Brooklyn Nine-Nine has scrapped all the season eight episodes that have been written so far in light of this revolutionary moment in history. Vulture did some great work around cop TV recently. Check out: Kathryn VanArendonk’s Cops Are Always the Main Characters, Matt Zoller Seitz’s Good Riddance to Cops, and Kathryn VanArendonk’s 21 TV Procedurals to Watch That Aren’t About Police.

+ Variety’s Virtual TV Fest Pose panel was super emotional, especially when the stars talked about Candy’s death. (Related: Zendaya talks to MJ Rodriguez about Euphoria, Pose, and learning her own worth.)

+ 13 Essential Songs From the Lesbian Label Olivia Records

+ This year’s Logo30 includes some of your faves.

+ Lucifer lives to see another season.

+ Queer chef Melissa King won Top Chef last week — if you want to read how awesome it was, Natalie’s got you covered — and this Insta video of Melissa telling Padma to leave her lipstick on her cheek is the cutest dang thing.

+ Melissa also came out as gender-fluid on Instagram today: “Some days I feel like a grandma 👵🏼, and other days I embrace my inner grandpa🧓🏼🕺🏻. I use the pronouns she/her, but am also comfortable with they/them. I cringe a little when I’m sir’ed or ma’amed but understand it’s often said out of politeness. I am highly uncomfortable when I walk into a women’s public restroom and get mistaken for as a man (cannot tell you how many times this happens) and appreciate a gender neutral bathroom. I never shop in the women’s section and find it difficult in the men’s. I blush when my 4 year old nieces call me “handsome” or respond with “a prince!” when asked what I should be for Halloween. I am a King and not just because it’s my last name, but somedays there’s a Queen in me that just wants to wear her damn crown 👸🏻.”

+ Holland Taylor on how playing Ann Richards changed her life.

+ Laverne Cox, Janet Mock, Chaka Khan, Miss Major, and Hannah Gasby will headline Netflix’s first ever Pride Special, benefitting OutRight, The Marsha P Johnson Institute, and the Trans Justice Funding Project.

+ Meet Search Party scene stealer Shalita Grant.

+ Dolly Parton and Nina West have launched a collection called Kindness is Queen.

+ Sarah Paulson talked to Variety about her character in Mrs. America, whose storyline, in the end, was heartbreaking.

+ A new Scream??

+ The Handmaid’s Tale season four trailer is here, if you can handle any more trauma right now.

  1. i was going to pre-emptivly nominate kristen stewart’s film for a tony or a nobel peace prize but then my favorite part of the trailer was when netlifx was like “we didn’t pay anybody to do this”

  2. Yesterday I thought to myself, “I wonder what GayStew is doing in quarantine?” And this morning I find myself reading this. The world is hilarious.

  3. If Brooklyn 99 is not cancelled, I think the only ethical choice would be to make their show about abolition of police and prisons. And I don’t see that happening on NBC.
