What’s up with closure sex?:

“Dating expert Sarah Louise Ryan thinks sleeping with someone you used to date can go one of two ways. The first is that it can ‘confirm that the spark or emotional connection is gone.’ […]

Meanwhile, the second outcome is that ‘one party realizes that they don’t, in fact, want to draw a line in the sand.’ In this case, Ryan fears the intimacy of closure sex may give at least one person in the relationship mixed messages, signaling that it’s an emotional restart to a situation.”

If you can’t focus on a whole conversation right now, here’s how to get your listening skills back:

“Jones said, paradoxically, the pressure to maintain eye contact on a video call can actually interrupt our ability to concentrate, because we’re focusing more on giving the appearance of listening than actually doing so. ‘I often recommend that clients give themselves permission to allow their eyes and thoughts to wander much like they would in person,’ he said. ‘This can free up mental resources and lead to more interesting insights.'”

  1. I take umbrage with “coconut oil is not the best lube”. Yes you shouldn’t use oil based lube with latex. You shouldn’t use silicone lube with more silicone! But nobody is running around writing articles about how “silicone based lube is not the best lube”. Every lube has its place and purpose. It sounds like bodies may differ with respect to coconut oil & yeast infections. For some bodies and moments, coconut oil may indeed be the best lube!

  2. I just want it noted that “the pressure to maintain eye contact on a video call can actually interrupt our ability to concentrate, because we’re focusing more on giving the appearance of listening than actually doing so” is how the neurodiverse among us feel all the time. Wonder if the neurotypicals will learn to empathise and stop demanding eye contact in person from this or if it will be another thing that only matters when it happens to them.
