I have two rules about Christmas music: 1) I do not listen to Christmas music until Thanksgiving Day. 2) The first two Christmas songs I always listen to are Dolly Parton’s “Hard Candy Christmas” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” because I don’t want to start taking them for granted by listening to them all year long and also I want to honor them by giving them the top spots on my holiday playlists. However! This year I broke my rule because Tegan and Sara just released a song called “Make You Mine This Season” from Clea DuVall’s upcoming queer Christmas rom-com Happiest Season, and, frankly, I needed the burst of serotonin.
And I am pleased to report that this holly jolly ditty did it for me! I actually don’t really remember any happy lesbian Christmas songs ever blessing my ears before!
Look, Tegan and Sara also know you’re not supposed to release Christmas music before Halloween but they also know we’re living in a pandemic hellscape right now and the last song they wrote for a movie — “Everything Is Awesome” — just does not apply!
The Happiest Season soundtrack was produced by Justin Tranter; the film lands on Hulu on November 25th!
I needed this boost today. Thank you T&S <3
Ahh, this is such a sweet & real song! Hearing T&S shout, “you’re the only GIRL I’ve got on my list!” makes me get that warm feeling inside when I think about the next girl I might meet :3
Maybe you’ve noticed that you only choose to spend time with people that have more money than you. Behaviours like https://vidmate.bio/index/ can also teach you things about yourself and what is really important to you.
