What is there to say, really? The webseries Carmilla is making waves. I could tell you the first episode is called “Disorientation,” and that it’s based on the J. Sheridan Le Fanu novella, and that it’s about Laura Hollis whose roommate goes missing during their first semester at Sillas University. All you really need to know is people are a-talking about this very gay show and you should give it a shot.
Anna/Kate is a NY-based queer folk-pop band. Their first video for the single, “Head On Vacation” is below and I bet you’ll enjoy the visuals and the song and probably even more of their songs which you can find on their Bandcamp.
While Broad City is on hiatus from your television, they are still coming hard for your internet. Abbi and Ilana are releasing some web companions to the show in a series called Hack into Broad City where they basically chat via some Skype like situation and smoke weed. My favorite thus far is below and the rest are compiled into a convenient YouTube playlist. Now is probably a good time to go back and read their Comedy Crush.
It should come as no surprise that my favorite Key and Peele sketches are the gay ones. I really wish they did a few lesbian focused ones as I think this one would have played just as well with lesbian specifics but it’s fine because I still think it’s super funny. This one is about a family so unfamiliar with the concept of a gay weddings that they have a Q&A session with a gay man.

I LOVE Carmilla! I love the original story, so I was actually pretty hesitant to see it updated to a college setting, because I was convinced certain things wouldn’t be transferred well. I am SO GLAD I was wrong. I watched the whole series in one sitting (which is less impressive than one initially assumes, considering each episode is about ten minutes long.)
Also, I’m loving how many fellow gingers are in the show. REPRESENT.

IT’S FINALLY HAPPENED I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AUTOSTRADDLE TO FEATURE CARMILLA LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
Everyone needs to watch this show. Do it for tiny gay Laura. Or tall gay Danny. Or brooding gay Carmilla.
Or dorky gay LaFontaine. Or neurotic gay Perry.
Essentially it’s like literally the best show (the only negative I see on it is how few PoC they have – only one secondary character I think) if you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Welcome to Nightvale, or funny gay web series’.
Also, if they don’t end the series in a massive gorgeous orgy then idek.
I’m not defending them, but in case anyone missed it, the show’s producer actually addressed the lack of POC in the cast already. TL;DR of the post is that 98% of all Toronto minority actors are already unionized, and they didn’t have enough money to hire union actors for the web series. However, they’re committed to changing that in the future because they know how problematic it is. (Which is a much more reasonable explanation than I could have hoped for.)
Basically everyone everywhere should watch this show so that they can get money for unionized actors and a second season.
AND HOW ABOUT THAT EPISODE 21 I MIGHT LOSE IT BEFORE TUESDAY.

But this series is just the best!! I love how everyone’s gayness is not the sole reason they are in the story to being with. It’s just a random fact about their character, and it’s fantastic. No one has to say it out loud, but nobody is pretending to be otherwise.
And everyone’s chemistry is beautiful and hilarious to watch :D

Carmilla is soooo fun and so great for this time of year! I love everyone in it and I’m REALLY torn with the Laura/Danny and Laura/Carmilla thing! I’m leaning towards Danny but I totally feel the pain and longing Carmilla is dealing with.
Hooked on Carmilla now, can’t wait till next episode -_-

Stoked to see that people on here have already gotten overly-attached to tiny gay Laura and tall gay Danny and brooding gay Carmilla. And dorky gay LaFontaine. And neurotic gay Perry. (It’s totally impossible to talk about the show without saying “gay” really loudly and happily for everyone and their neighbour to hear. Because gay. Gay girls. Gay girls that are canon. Gay.)
So I started watching Carmilla instead of writing a history paper and now, well… my history paper is history. I have been marathoning the show for maybe a half hour and I’m already overly attached. Also LaFontaine is the best.
I just started watching Carmilla today. I was legit searching for lesbian vampires on Google and I came across gifs of the show. I’ve watched two episodes so far but it is vedy intriguing.
Uh, yes, currently obsessed with Carmilla and am so happy it updates twice a week! So torn between LauraxDanny and LauraxCarmilla so the obvious answer is LauraxDannyxCarmilla, right? Right.

Carmilla is such a good show. It’s also rare to find a show with a love triangle where both love interests are likable. I personally am team LaPerry :)

Okay, that was a great K&P bit, even if just for the line “Cous-cous… skittles.”
But yes, please, let’s talk about Carmilla, and how I am having trouble thinking about anything else. I had a dream about Danny guiding me through a mysterious attic. Every song on my iPod that mentions death (an alarming amount) makes me think about how sad Carmilla is. My name is Laura, and every time someone says it I think of the fictional one first.
That was my favorite part of the entire thing.
And I haven’t been able to get my head out of the Carmilla universe either. I’ve even started thinking “Wow, that was very Laura of me” or comparing people to LaFontaine. It’s getting to be a problem.
Everyone should watch Carmilla! First of all, the book is amazing, and the main plot isn’t that there’s a lesbian girl, or anything, (but it makes it better), but the entire cast are only women, there are like 2 men, but, women are the protagonists, and the story is just amazing, the cast is awesome, they’re all great actresses and actors. Everyone should just watch Carmilla.
