Greetings. This is Brittani’s Video Party, where I bring some of the “best” videos from all over my internet together so we can clap, cry or deconstruct. Have you ever gotten to a video and it already has 33 million views and you wonder where the heck have you been? Well I’m here to help you so that you see it when it only has 32 million views. Aim low, world. Aim low.

Tegan and Sara have been showing off their comedic chops of late and this is the funniest thing they’ve done so far. In one of their Heartthrob Interview series, they chatted with Andy Samberg of SNL and The Lonely Island about what makes a heartthrob. Their underplayed and dry humor plays really well in this video and you can learn a few ways to make yourself more appealing to Tegan and Sara who are obviously the real heartthrobs in this video. Andy Samberg isn’t bad though.
Since you’re already envisioning your future with Tegan and Sara (I don’t think they’d be into that, you probs have to pick one), you should learn to harness the power of imagination. My main takeaway from this video is that by simply thinking about working out, I can start claiming that I did in fact work out that day.
As if you needed any help figuring out how to get in trouble with your boo piece, Words With Girls hooked up with Arielle from the Shit Straight Girls Say to Lesbians video to bring you 25 ways to piss off your girlfriend. You might think it’s funny but I don’t know your life. And if you need more than 25 ways, we also did a video for her channel.

In lesbian web series news, two shows have trailers you should check out and see if they tickle your fancy. Girl Play is a web series about femmes in New Orleans (their first episode is also up) and Leslieville is a Canadian series about two girls that have an instant chemistry but one is already in a relationship. They keep up their friendship anyway and try to ignore the fact that they’re falling in love much to the dismay of everyone involved obvs.

If you have a video you think everyone should see, tweet it to @bishilarious for consideration. And of course feel free to post your favorite videos from the week below.
This was an awesome way to kick off a Thursday morning! I actaully intend to work out today, but yestderday, I totally did the whole power of imagination thing.
Hey I don’t want to be super annoying and nit-picky but I kind of feel that writing “25 ways to piss off your lesbian girlfriend” is both unnecessary and also a bit disrespectful to bi* or otherwise identified people. I know that neither my girlfriend nor I have a ‘lesbian girlfriend’.
That said, the video was hilarious.
I sort of assumed they put that in there so that straight guys would know it wasn’t for them/so that people would know it was about omgsupaqueergirl stereotype jokes and not just ‘shit girls say’ type jokes…
That’s legit – but it’s not mentioned in the actual video name itself. Only on Autostraddle. And I assume, though I would love to be proven wrong, that straight guys don’t really hang out round here.
The point is, it would have made just as much sense without the extra ‘lesbian’, and I would have felt less excluded on what should be a lovely safe inclusive internet space.
Yeah, the name of the video that’s linked has “lesbian girlfriend” in the title but the WWG one above doesn’t which was a purposeful choice on my part. I think the choice to put lesbian in Arielle’s title is because the primary place it’s viewed is on youtube where the title is key and that more quickly communicates that the video is about queers because straight dudes do hang out there. Either way, I took that phrase out the article.
Thank you, that means a lot. I do understand the necessity for distinction on a more widely-viewed website like YouTube, but it just felt oddly out of place here. I didn’t want to be making a fuss but it did touch me in a way that most things don’t and I really appreciate you taking it out.
Although this was a while ago, I just wanted to say that I also appreciate the removal of the extra word! The reasoning for adding it makes sense, but it also feels less necessary on a site like Autostraddle.
That said, it’s so wonderful that this is the type of community where people listen when someone disagrees about aspects of articles, and that we can discuss it without it becoming a giant flame war. Thanks so much!
I agree with you that people tend to ignore bi* members of the queer community. However, in a context like this (a title for a video) where the gender of the both parties is unknown, the term “lesbian girlfriend” or “lesbian relationship” is used because whether either person is exclusively gay or not, it describes the genders of the people in the relationship (i.e. two women). If someone of an unknown gender talks about their bisexual girlfriend, it’s unclear as to what the dynamic of the relationship is because the OP could be a guy with a bisexual girlfriend.
CANADIANA FTW!
I will certainly keep an eye on Leslieville…and my shipping feels shall be tested once again…
But if I made it through Lip Service. I can make it through this.
Girl Play: curvy women of color being badass in New Orleans. SO. EXCITED.
So much lolz.
Here is a relevant video party for your pants:

If, as they say, lesbians don’t really have sex, then I think this might be lesbian porn.

That Heartthrob video was hilarious.
Is this just the week that all the queer ladies confess their Madonna feelings?
“it’s not that it’s a bad haircut, it’s just very… symmetrical.”
ya’ll are hilarious.
All of the videos were hilarious. loved the Girl Play 1st episode too. Confused about the main character’s job since the gay scene is tiny in nola.
