I finally caught up with Equalizer last season & it’s a pretty good show. She’s really the only Queen that matters imho.
I watched the first season solely for Queen Latifah and found it ok but not really better than your average procedural (although always prefer one where the main character is not a cop!) It particularly grated on me that it supposedly took place in NYC and they didn’t even try to make it look like the city. I’m not sure I’ll continue.
The second season got a little better, but what makes it mostly good for me is Queen Latifah.
The link to famous celebrity lesbian couples — oh my goodness, adorable! 😍 Thanks for sharing the link.
Yes! I did not know about Fiona Shaw!
Honestly I finally watched Yellowjackets and I don’t get why there was so much hype? Like at all? Maybe I spoiled it because I watched The Wilds first and loved it but like…the major plot points and character development of Yellowjackets seems to be ENTIRELY about men in the women’s lives. Like, everything. Spoilers below I guess (but I’m trying to keep it vague)…
The Black lesbian character Taissa isn’t likable at all and her storyline makes no sense? Like, also why do we have to watch the storyline about her being a terrible parent and her relationship being so effed? We never see any chemistry between her and her wife.
I guess I appreciated Van’s character – and they were cute together – but after all the hype I was really expecting…not just another story about what boy’s/men’s feelings do to women.
The Wilds had SOME storylines that were centered on men’s impact but the format of the storytelling meant everything was more tightly focused on the girls’ inner lives, and not as much on how the boys/men in their lives felt. It actually did feel like the teen girls were “real, complex people” to refer back to the headline about Yellowjackets from this roundup…I was rolling my eyes at most of the characters in Yellowjackets because they were so transparent. Boo :(
And I did watch the 2nd season of The Wilds, which I know was different to the first. But still! By that point I really loved the girls! And I felt like they were still carrying the show!
