Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we fell in love with olives.
It’s squash season! But that’s not really a big deal, ’cause it’s always squash season or whatever. I mean, I am always seeing squash in the store. Big squash! Little squash! Tender squash! Squash so solid it thumps when you hit it with your hand! And each squash has its own magical powers and preferred methods of being cooked, which is a total delight. What a family! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! Here’s how to enjoy those suckers all-year round, whether you’re lookin’ to fry ’em, sautee ’em, or eat right out of ’em.
YE GODS!
I’m attempting pumpkin samosas (using spring roll/lumpia wrappers) for the company potluck tomorrow!
what company do you work for, can I apply, can I get hired in time to come to our company potluck and eat pumpkin samosas?
Wow, if this isn’t some serious food porn.
I might have suppressed a yell of “Yes!Yes!” here and there and will be off to the supermarket like, right now.
BUTTERNUT SQUASH LASAGNA
It’s a Giada recipe which means it is delicious. DELICIOUS GOOEY BUTTERNUT GOODNESS. I never put in the amaretti cookies & it turns out great anyway.
This is my favorite series on Autostraddle! Thanks for the great start to my day :-)
My favorite is sautéed onion, bacon, leek and squash with a bit of parmesan or cheddar on top, maybe with brown rice if the squash is small and I need a bit more to fill me up.
But that was before this list and I want to try at least half of these….
Thanks for the round up!
<3 <3 WINTER SQUASH IS THE BEST! I will eat it on a train, I will eat it on a plane. I will eat it in my room, I will eat it in mushrooms. I will eat it with my tea, I will eat it as spaghetti. I will eat it with mac-n-cheese, I will eat it, pretty-please!
Sorry. I'm a dork.
I think my favorite is kobocha, or buttercup squash (not to be confused with butternut squash, which has a similar name but a different appearance) – it has a nutty sweet potato-like flavor.

These all look so delicious and colourful! Thank you!
I’m way more into squash now!
THIS IS NOT FAIR.
You can’t do this to me right before Thanksgiving because I don’t have the time to make all of these awesome and delicious-sounding and delicious-looking recipes.
This is just patently unfair how many delicious squash recipes exist.
(But seriously thanks guys for putting these together. I swear well over half of my bookmarked recipes are ones from the lists you put together or are just the list you put together because all the recipes on them are great)
