Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we blended the things.
If my relationship with dark chocolate had a theme song, it would be “I Will Always Love You” because we’re always pining for one another (okay, just kidding, our pining is super one-sided, I’ll be honest). But I need you to know it’s the Dolly Parton version, not the Whitney Version. Ours is a quiet love. A tender love. We don’t need theatrics. Just one another. Dark chocolate is the Burt Reynolds of my heart.
For real though, I just fucking love dark chocolate. I eat it almost every day because I’m a grown woman and I can treat myself!
I read somewhere that craving chocolate is a sign your body needs magnesium, but you know what? I think my body really truly needs chocolate to function. I know my HEART AND SOUL AND WILL TO LIVE do, at least.
But I have to confess I’m a chocolate snob. Quit trying to pass off Hershey’s as good chocolate! Dark chocolate is higher in cocoa, which means it’s actually real chocolate, unlike the watered down versions you can buy at the gas station. My favorite kind of dark chocolate is currently made by Chocolove, but I’ll never say no to a Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate Bar because they’re the best. I think we can all agree that sea salt and dark chocolate is the best thing to be paired since the dawn of time.
I’ve rounded up 30 Dark Chocolate Recipes to pair with “I Will Always Love You” which is now stuck in your head.

Okay, now before you panic at the thought of chocolate in a grilled cheese, please note that there is scientific research about the flavor profile of parmesan and dark chocolate, determining them to be a perfect pairing:
Each ingredient’s volatile compounds (aromas) are quantified using gas chromatography and/or a mass spectrometer. The concentrations are then compared with their respective flavor threshold and finally matched with other ingredients that have similar compounds.
I don’t pretend to understand science, but that’s some research I can get behind.
What other dark chocolate deliciousness are y’all cooking up?

Feeling really motivated to go home and make that Dark Chocolate Orange Pudding. But probably with something other than orange flavor.
Also, I’ve been working through that berry post. I made the raspberry coconut girl bait and the crescent wrapped baked brie. Very delicious, no regrets. Would do again.
I dream about the crescent wrapped baked brie. So fancy, so easy, so very much everything I love in the world.
This pairing of two of my greatest loves (cheese and chocolate) has got me excited. I intend on trying this sometime in the near future.
I mean, I’m free tonight if you are.
I need a working stove. Those Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups look absolutely amazing. I can also get on the dark chocolate and parmesan band wagon.
Somewhat related to the chocolate grilled cheese there, I love to make grilled nutella and jam sandwiches. So delicious! This post is everything I ever wanted.
I wish I could 3D print these instead of baking them.
Woah! I wonder if i could make the healthy versions on these yummy deserts
very happy about all that! I try to work dark chocolate into my diet daily. this morning I threw some cocao nibs along with dark cherries into my smoothie. :)
Cheeseboy (a grilled cheese franchise in N.E.) makes grilled cheese sandwiches that have nutella & american cheese on cinnamon swirl bread with powdered sugar on top, so cheese & chocolate is definitely A Thing.
have you eaten at cheeseboy? i have always been terrified of it because seeing CHEESEBOY in all caps is so unnerving
i have, yes! protip: the choco-melt is not something you want to eat on the train because powdered sugar and black pants, just, no.
I think I got fat just looking at these.
I know, right? Ew, fat and sugar! Let’s go eat nothing but carrot sticks and water forever so we stay super skinny!
Seriously though, your comment comes across a little fat-shamey, but I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way.
I am extremely intrigued by the combination of brownies and pie– two of my favorite food items!
This looks like Heaven. Dark chocolate is the best!
CHOCOLATE STOUT CHEESECAKE FUDGESICLES SHUT THE FUCK UP
MILK CHOCOLATE 4 LIFE
but I would totes still eat all of this SO
ALL THE ABOVE.
I call dibs on bacon covered chocolate. I used to put chocolate on my bacon as a kid and people thought i was weird. Now its everywhere! I was too ahead of our time.
My favourite quickie simple way to enjoy dark chocolate in a baked good. Make cupcakes with vanilla or chocolate cake mix, pour half the required batter into the cup cake holes. Drop as much solid dark chocolate as you feel like in, then just add the rest of the batter. Bake ’em then eat ’em while they’re warm, if you manage to not eat them all but still want the molten chocolate center just microwave them.
Simplest way of all: Grate your chocolate with a cheese grater on top something like a frosted cake or into ice cream.
YES.
IT JUST KEEPS ON GOING
In 2014, I’m making a birthday cake for all of my (disadvantaged students). I use this brilliant recipe for it: Simply Amazing Chocolate Cake
I mean, winning hearts and minds is helped by chocolate. Just sayin’
I couldn’t even make it all the way through this post without reaching into my desk drawer and breaking out the emergency Nutella.
Licking the screen.
*sharp intake of breath*
this morning i was talking with a friend about chocolate benefits, that we can eat and do a healthy diet. It’s not true that chocolate gets you fat.
She should look at this and change her mind about dark chocolate. Some of this recipes look yummi
1, 21, and 26…. I’m trying to eat healthy but those look so delicious!
I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve found THE BEST fudge brownie recipe out there. You can either make them with oatmeal as per the original recipe or just double the brownie portion for straight dark-chocolate-in-your-face goodness. For even more goodness, top with sea salted caramel. MMMMMMM.
