Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we ate some fall recipes.
Cooking for yourself is a really fun pursuit, and I for one recommend you endeavor upon it. But enough of all that! Today, we’re switching it up. Today, we’re making some motherfucking treats for our motherfucking cats. Or dogs. I love dogs.

Carmen, how did you know I was looking for doggy recipes!?
Gonna be testing as many of these as I possibly can on my mutts pre-Christmas, and the biggest hits can be made as presents for my brothers’ dogs!
What we do for the pup is much less adorable, but also much less work- we use a mandolin to slice sweet potatoes very thin, then dehydrate them in the oven at around 200° until they’re crispy, and the little moo loves them more than anything!
So I kinda mindlessly clicked on the story w out really reading, so when I was scrolling through, at first I was like “man I’d never eat this stuff” and then I was like “that actually looks pretty good” and I clicked on the link and saw it was for animals and I am a mess.
You are not alone on this one.
I mean, those blueberry paws look pretty good…
Thats the exact one that got me. And I am still 70% going to make ’em to see if there is a delicious spark. Ohgod typing this out, guys I think I need help.
Wow. I was just talking with my girlfriend an hour ago about how we may need to start making treats for our dog cause everything seems to upset his stomach. (Might help if he stopped eating all the things he finds outside too…he found pizza in a plant yesterday) You guys are seriously mind readers.
I feel like this won’t work because:
Cat bed = Not interested
My bed = Cat bed
Cat toy = Not interested
Literally anything I don’t want touched = Cat toy
Thus,
Cat treat = Probably not interested
My food = Cat treat
There is so much truth to this cat logic. Especially if there’s anything resembling fish in my meal. Or anything that involves use of a can opener, for that matter…
Ooooh. I’m going to make some of those dog biscuits for my ratties…
Tuna and salmon treats are delicious, according to my dogs, but my recipes are lower in grain products and higher in egg + fish than these cat treats. (“That’s salmon?! Right, what do you want me to do? I’m here. I’m so here for you.”) Also yields a softer treat that must be kept in the fridge/freezer, but is more appropriate for longer training sessions when you don’t want them to choke on dry crumbs from getting lots of harder treats. Mackerel also works, and is usually cheaper but a little more potent…
Also. People who are thinking about eating dog treats. I have tasted the ones I make. Not bad, particularly if you are hungry and still waiting for your dinner, but not winning any awards, either.
